Author’s Note: This is a short response to the poem “Mother to Son” It will include the mood and tone of the poem as well as examples of figurative language.
“Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.” This was one of the ways that the author showed figurative language in the poem “Mother to Son” by Langston Hughes. I think that this is being related to people that make mistakes, because no one can be more prefect then a crystal stair case. The overall mood and tone of the poem is clamming but meaningful. The mother wants to stay calm about telling her son about not to make the mistakes she made but very meaningful because she wants her son to really think about how one little thing can change everything. Think before you act because no mother wants to see her child suffer like they had to. Just because of one choice they made, that lead to a mistake.
