Author’s Note: This piece of writing is to show my understanding of how I can describe a character from a novel. The character I’m going to describe is Marisa. She is the main character in the book waiting for you.
Marisa is a shy, smart, low self esteem person. She thinks that to be popular and for people to know her she needs a boy friend. All she wants is to be in a relationship which everyone knows about. Marisa wants to just fit in with the popular people. But this will never happen if she continues talking to only her two close friends. But she is taking an art class and the guy she likes sits next to her. All of a sudden all she can think about is Derek. Can’t sleep at night, can’t stay focused in school and can’t stop thinking about him. Could this be a sign of true love? Could this be the one that she has been waiting for? But she will only find out if she builds up the nerve to talk to him.
Even though Marisa is a straight A student, when she is working on her science project the guy she is working with tries to kiss her. Will this change her feeling for Derek? Or worse will this make her get a terrible grade on the project? She tries her best to get good grades because she thinks that her job is only what she is going to have to look forward to when she gets older. But there is more, or at least in my opinion. Things that you had to look forward to are meeting a person you want to spend the rest of your life with, starting a family and maybe even being a huge success with your job. One of the reasons why I think Marisa wants to be in a relationship is because she doesn’t think that she is a pretty and athletic girl. She probably wants her boy friend to tell her these things because the only people that tell her this are her parents and they are pretty much obligated to say those things. Over all I think that Marisa is a great, amazing and independent person. But she needs to come out of her shell and show her true colors.
